Ants in my peonies (and my pants)

Are you like me patiently waiting for those big peony beauties to open up? —if you’ve spotted ants on your peony buds and felt the urge to panic… pause. Let’s break it down.

Myth: Ants are bad for peonies.
Fact: Nope! Ants are just there for the sweet nectar peony buds naturally produce. They’re not hurting your flowers—just having a snack.

Myth: Peonies need ants to bloom.
Fact: Cute idea, but not true. Peonies will bloom beautifully with or without ants. The ants are just freeloaders enjoying a sugar fix.

Myth: You need to get rid of the ants.
Fact: No need to stress! Outside, ants aren’t a problem. But if you’re bringing your blooms inside? Just give them a gentle shake or swish the whole bloom in cool water to send the ants packing.

Now if only those blooms would actually open, right?!
I’ve got ants in my pants waiting for these suckers to pop—seems like they stay in bud form forever!

Our dreamy peony bunches will be ready in the next week or two! Perfect for your table, or your bestie.
